Close encounter with a bandicoot

We started today by watching a young bandicoot rummage through the undergrowth right outside the lounge room window. The encounter lasted for a long time, probably for 10 minutes or more. We watched as it made its way down the garden bed, disappearing behind logs and plants, then reappearing again. nothing seemed to bother it and it was having a lovely quiet time enjoying juicy morsels.

We got long and lovely views of its face, body and tail. It was all the more special because it was our grandson's first experience of a bandicoot and had to be reminded again and again how to say 'bandicoot'.
