Silver Birch Teeming with Life

Over the last few days the large silver birch just outside our window has been full of the coming and goings of at least 3 species of birds. They seem to be time sharing and we suspect there is a least one new family hidden in the branches. The fantails, sparrows and, my favourite, the striated pardolote flit in and out, using the balustrade close by as a resting spot. At the moment it is the turn of the fantails and if I watch out of the window instead of watching the TV, I can see them flitting from branch to branch. Like all the little birds in the garden, they are never still for long, but they manage to squeeze in a flash of their fanned out tail when they take a rest from their antics.
