When is a garden blog not a garden blog?

When you haven't done any gardening.

So much for putting off writing til winter arrives. Hello Winter. It's been over a week since I've done anything that resembles getting out in the garden. We have had rain, storms, wind, wind and more wind. And today we had a frost (but not as you know it, Canberra friends!)

The garden did us proud, no branches down, no instant water features, but it does look like the BFG has been here and thrown small branches and bark everywhere. Tidying up is on the to do list.

Benefits of wild blustery weather

  1. Water tanks are full

  2. Bird baths are full

  3. Pond is full

  4. Sprinklers can go off

  5. We can admire the garden from in front of the fire

  6. I love storms

Problems with wild blustery weather

  1. Anything left outside gets filled with water

  2. The power goes off

  3. The deck looks like it's sprouting branches and leaves

  4. The birds don't like it

  5. I have to wear my abominable snowwoman outfit outside

  6. There's no sun to warm the soul

I've turned my attention to indoor plants. There is one spot in our house that might like indoor plants and we've filled it up. I'm still waiting for an orchid, but that's another story. We bought some lovely pots but baulked at spending $40 on a plastic one, even though it was a cute elephant head. Then off to Bunnings to buy some plants (no orchids but that's another story). Ruprecht chose a plant that held memories for him and off we went. Got home, looked at the price of the plant....$35. Needless to say it's getting a lot of TLC.

The plants are enhanced by some very cool plant markers made by one very cool lady.

This is the pot waiting for its orchid, but that's another story.

Today the sun is trying to come out and we are headed for 2 to 3 good days. Woo Hoo! So maybe gardening will be part of my daily routine again soon.
